E Loney Memorial LOL 779 is an Orange Lodge in the City of London District DLOL 63 of the Metropolitan Province under the Grand Orange Lodge of England. The lodge currently meets in London's West End.

Reformation LOL 779 originally met at Highgate in North London at St Peters Parish Hall in MacDonald Road. The warrant itself, from its number, dates from the early years of the twentieth century - The first initiate recorded was a Mr. T Abraham in July 1906.

It was associated, as it is now, to the City of London District. Since the end of the Second World War its fortunes have been mixed. In 1950 it numbered among its membership two Deputy Grand Master, P.J Timewell & H.F Darbyshire, and a Deputy Grand Chaplain, Pastor F.T Waller.

By 1955 the Lodge had become dormant. H.F Darbyshire now belonged to LOL 902 while the Grand Chaplain was still shown in the annual report as belonging to LOL 779. In 1956, a long time stalwart of 779 Hughie Gilmore, then a member of LOL 902, is shown as the Metropolitan Provincial Grand Secretary. Pastor F.T Waller had removed to Liverpool and was a member of the Bootle Pride of Linacre LOL 1005.

In 1961 another driving force behind the revival of 779 appeared on the scene, namely Willie McKinlay, Secretary of LOL 45, Hughie Gilmore having moved on to being Treasurer of the Province. Brother McKinlay was the District Secretary in 1966.

Two years later LOL 779 was revived. The new title was taken in honour of the Right Worshipful Brother E. Loney who had been a Deputy Grand Master of England. It met in the Salvation Army Whitechapel Mission Rooms in East London. The first Master was Brother R. Brown, a railway man based at Old Oak Common. Brother McKinley was the secretary. Brother McKinley was appointed HDGM in 1974.

The lodge is now moving from strength to strength. To date we have approx 33 members and recently won a joint award with fellow District Lodge LOL 45 for the most new brethren accepted into a single lodge in a calendar year.
